This semester’s English course was incredibly beneficial to me. It enhanced my growth as a writer and learner. Throughout the course we learned how to write more efficiently and analyze stories and excerpts. We had a chance to write about our own experiences as well as what we have researched. We covered topics such as the use of ethos pathos and logos, writing our own literacy narratives, and how to structure our own research assignments in a way that can be efficiently shared with an audience. I started this class with the goal of becoming a better speaker and writer. I am immensely grateful that I was able to fulfill that goal.
our first major assignment that we were required to complete was a literacy and language narrative. This was an essay that detailed our progression as writers and learners of the English language. I felt that this assignment was beneficial because it gave me a chance to reflect on what I have learned as well as how far I’ve come as a writer and Student. the instructions for this assignment were detailed and the review process was thorough. one of the most important parts of writing this essay was to carry our messages across in a clear and concise way.
The next major assignment that we completed was the discovery essay which was essentially a beginners research essay. This was the most challenging but rewarding assignment that we had to do for this class. We were allowed to choose a topic to write and learn about. This assignment was also incredibly important because it showed us the basics of what a true research essay is like. Research essays are something that we will have to right a lot of as college students. I am grateful for the chance to have a clear understanding of what goes into making them as well as have a guide to look back on when I write more intricate research essays in the future. This system gave us a chance to learn something completely new or learn more about what we already knew. Knowing that I’ve truly gained something out of this assignment made it worthwhile to me.
the last major assignment that we completed was the multimodal creative project. this was essentially an extension of the discovery essay. this assignment taught us how to show what we learned from our discovery essays to an audience. this was the most fun project for me because I had a chance to brush up on my graphic design skills. Everyone’s presentation was incredibly educational. I learned something new from every single one of them. you could tell that they put a lot of hard work into what they researched.
All in all, this class exceeded my expectations. everything that was assigned it was educational and fun to work on. I feel that this class truly helped me become a better writer. there were so many things that I learned that taught me how to improve. I believe that had I not taken this class I would not be able to say that my writing improved. I fully intend to take the lessons that I learned in this class with me through my years as a student and beyond.
